Simple Rustic Farmhouse Christmas

Lots of greenery, ticking stockings and white lights, crocks and Christmas trees is how I decorated our home for a simple rustic farmhouse Christmas.

Fresh Natural Greenery in Holiday Decor

Natural greenery makes for simple decorating and often times I pick mine up for free. If you visit a place that sells Christmas trees you can often get the greenery they trim off for free. Adding greenery to our home provides a bit of color against all the neutral decor and paint colors. Want to know how to keep your greenery fresh longer?

Simple Rustic Farmhouse Holiday Table Setting

White plates and candles paired with a battery operated Christmas garland makes for a beautiful table setting. I love the way the lights add in such a cozy feel.

I used natural greenery tied with a linen ribbon for a simple touch on each plate. My husband cut the wooden coasters for the glasses but you can also find some here. Adding in element from nature is what gives this table a setting a bit of a rustic feel.

Simple Rustic Farmhouse Christmas Trees in Crocks

I love using crocks to tuck little Christmas trees into. If you don’t have a space for a large tree then this is a perfect idea for having multiple trees throughout your home.

They can easily sit on the counter or even end tables in your family room or bedroom. With battery operated Christmas lights you can stick the battery part in the bottom of the crock and wind the lights around the tree. This gives any room that simple rustic farmhouse look.

Hanging Stocking Without a Mantel

We don’t have a mantel in our home, so I have to come up with ways to hang our stockings each year. Last year I chose to use a ladder part of them time and then I switched over to using antlers after I realized I could stick the antlers behind an old window frame.

Many of our antlers have been found in the woods but you can also find them in flea markets or even buy them online.  I love that they are versatile for all seasons.

  1. Lovely post! You have me inspiration to make new stockings (something I’ve been thinking about for years) and look for a small tree to go in my large crock on the kitchen floor. Thank you!
