Equipment

  • 1 12" baking stone

Ingredients

  • Pizza dough see my pizza dough recipe
  • 1 to 1½ cups leftover pulled pork smoked or slow-cooked in a Dutch oven
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce your favorite BBQ sauce
  • ½ cup red onions sliced into crescents
  • 1 cup shredded or thinly sliced mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup cooked crispy bacon pieces (optional)
  • Semolina flour or all-purpose flour for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 500°F. Lightly brush your pizza stone with semolina or all-purpose flour (no need to preheat if you roll dough directly on the stone).
  • Roll out the pizza dough directly on the floured pizza stone or on a floured surface for easy transfer.
  • Spread barbecue sauce evenly over the dough.
  • Evenly scatter the pulled pork over the sauce.
  • Add crescents of red onions.
  • Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, then Parmesan cheese.
  • Add crispy bacon pieces if using.
  • Place the pizza stone on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden and crispy.
  • Remove from oven, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, preheat your pizza stone for 30 minutes before baking and transfer the assembled pizza with a pizza peel.
  • Try adding caramelized onions for extra sweetness.
  • Mix in different kinds of cheeses like cheddar for more flavor.
