Do you love a well organized space to work in the kitchen? Life is often hectic enough and the last thing I need to face when cooking a meal is searching through all the cabinets and bags looking for what I need. I recently shared our new kitchen pantry here and thought I would answer some of the most common questions I get about this space.
Using Jars to Store Spices and Herbs
I have three different sizes of jars, large, small and spice jars. I purchased my jars and then began placing all our dry ingredients in each one and then labeled the jars. I purchase most of our dry goods from a local health food store and I just purchase the amount that I need to fill my jars.
This cuts down on the number of boxes and bags that I have to find a place to store and this also means that we have fresh dry ingredients. So check around to see if you have a local store that sells in bulk that allows you to purchase only the amount that you need.
What Kind of Jars to Use in the Pantry
My jars have seals and that helps to keep all the ingredients fresh. It can seem like a pricy investment to purchase them all at once but if you slowly collect them over time then your investing in an item that not only functions well but looks beautiful. I love going into the kitchen to cook and knowing that everything I need is easily available to reach, and I won’t spend time digging through the pantry looking for what I need
There are still several things that I would love to add to our pantry shelves, as well as add one more shelf. The labels were purchased from Hobby Lobby in the scrapbook section. They are plain brown labels that I hand wrote the dry good product on. Etsy is also a great place to look if you want some that are premade. The labels have since been updated and you can view that post here.
